NMNH, as the reduced form of NMN, is a better enhancer of NAD+ than NMN and occurs naturally in the kidneys. NMNH can be rapidly converted into NAD+ in biological cells at more than twice the rate and concentration of NMN, while increasing the level of NAD+ in a variety of tissues. NMNH can reduce cell damage in the absence of oxygen and enhance cell repair. In addition, NMNH significantly increased NADH levels in biological cells and inhibited cellular glycolysis and tricarboxylic acid cycling.
